Science Week

Elm Class had a great time celebrating British Science Week. We had the question posed, "How do boats float?" We used our knowledge of forces and materials to design and build boats using different materials. We tested them to see if they could actually float on water and, if not, we refined our design and had another try. We then challenged ourselves further to see how many marbles our boats could support, without sinking. As you can see, some of our boats we able to hold an impressive amount of marbles!

Oak Class investigated forces including wind resistance, gravity and motion. Their challenge was to protect an egg from a drop of various heights. Everyone had fun creating a protective layer and parachutes for their eggs. A few of the teams even managed to protect the egg from 4-meter drop!
